IT giants like TCS, Cognizant, Accenture are known for recruiting students in large numbers from colleges. Hence, they attracted the tag of “Mass Recruiters”.
However, the scenario has been changing in the last few years. Colleges have seen either the eligibility criterion become stricter or the selection patterns have become tougher. With new technological developments like automation taking over most of the entry-level jobs, companies are now looking at more skilled students. The fewer number of offers there are to see.
According to a report* by FACE Market Intelligence and Research Team:
- 46% more students from the 2017–18 batch are unemployed as compared to the previous year. (as of March 2018)
- Number of Mass Recruiting Companies visiting the campus also reduced by 40% in between 2016–17 to 2017–18
However, “73% HRs from Non — Mass Recruiters (especially Small & Medium scale companies, Startups) claimed to have not filled their requirements for the year so far. And they are still looking for fresh talent.”
Insight: The Campus hiring game has now changed from getting a few big companies which hire in large numbers to getting more number of companies onto the campus.
