Strategies you can implement to attract Non-MRCs (Non — Mass recruiting Companies) to your Campus

#1 Make a department-specific training and placement plan

Non-MRCs like to recruit people who are specialists. Different core companies look for different core skills in departments like Mechanical, Civil, CS/IT, Electronics/Electrical etc.

Make a detailed department-specific training plan for your students. Invite enough relevant companies from each core section to test your students.

#2 Invite people from the company for engaging with students

Invite people from these companies to conduct workshops or hackathons on your campus. This way they get to gauge the quality of the students. These workshops will also help students understand the expectations of these companies and prepare accordingly when they come on campus.

At the very least, these workshops will help your students get equipped with more skills and get exposure to real-time industry problems. This will help them not just in this company’s selection process but all the others as well.

#3 Encourage students to take up Internships at the companies

Encourage your students to apply for internships at these companies, paid or otherwise.

This is going to help your overall cause in two ways:

  1. For students who are skeptical about working in such companies, Internships are the best way to help the gauge the culture and the work at the company. And if they like what is being done at these companies they might be encouraged to take up the job.
  2. Non-MRCs, given their budget and time constraints, want all of their hires to be successful. They want every hire to perform well. A 2 month internship will be a good time for them to gauge the students. If they like the work of your students during this time, they might offer a Pre-Placement Offers (PPO), or even come back to your campus to hire more!
