The Tech Demystify: Becoming a Fullstack Web Developer

Our guest facilitator was Sampson Kotey Djanie, a full stack developer at LightCodes and also a coding instructor at ZongoVation Hub took us through the fourth edition of #TheTechDemystify.

Sampson defined a full stack developer as a programmer skilled in coding both at the frontend and backend of a web application. With the frontend, he stated; it is the part of web development that allows the user of the web application to interact with the application. Backend on the other hand can be explained as the part of the application that functions behind the scenes and executes the commands issued by the user.

BACK-END PROCESSES include:

  • Validation of users
  • Logical process
  • Database-related process
  • Server Configuration

HOW TO BECOME A FULL STACK DEVELOPER

1. Learn all the technologies related to your particular stack and gain some proficiency in them;

  • start with the basics: HTML, CSS, JAVA SCRIPTS.
  • learn libraries and frameworks like jQUERY, BOOTSTRAP, ANGULAR JS, etc.
  • for the back-end, it will be useful to learn JavaScript, Python, Java programming languages; databases such as SQL, MongoDB, etc.

2. Gain some mastery over the technologies;

Practice makes perfect and so after knowing the fundamentals of all the technologies, you work on understanding complex concepts through practice. You should understand how each part work.

3. Gain personal skills in the following;

  • ability to think global solutions
  • good communication skills
  • creativity
  • curiosity
  • time management skills.
