Fastest-Growing States in the U.S.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the U.S. population to be 329 million as of 2020, a 0.35% increase compared to 2019. Between 2019 and 2020, here are the fastest-growing states:

Driver: sunny weather, job market, affordability, entertainment options, California proximity

Driver: strong real estate industry, Las Vegas popularity, California proximity

Utah: +1.4%
Driver: a high birth rate; 62% of Utah residents are Morman, who have an average of 3.4 children compared to 2.1 children among all U.S. adults

Driver: a high birth rate and migration increase; international migration exceeds domestic migration, specifically from China and India

Bonus: the states with the fastest-declining populations are West Virginia, Alaska, and Illinois.
