Stripe is an Irish-American financial services and software company last valued at $95B after raising $600M in Q1 2021. They provide payment processing software and APIs for e-commerce sites and mobile apps.
Stripe’s mission statement is to grow the GDP of the internet.
Excerpts from a letter written by the founders (two brothers) to the Stripe community:
- 1,400 new companies (and 100 nonprofits) joined Stripe each day in 2021
- Online spending was only 12% of global spending in 2021
- 60% of the technology companies that went public in 2021 are Stripe customers
- Only 48% of small businesses say they have access to all of the financing they need
