Increase Personal Effectiveness with a 90-Minute Plan

An overload of information and tasks at work leads to distraction, lower productivity, and having to work outside of your scheduled hours.

Typically, the human brain can only focus between 90 and 120 minutes at a time before a 20–30 minute break is required. Deep work is designed to help you focus on a single task. One strategy is to divide your day, dedicating clearly defined stretches of time to focus with no distractions.

Example: I block out the first 90 minutes of every work day to focus on clearing out my email inbox. I add additional sporadic 30 minute sprints to focus on must-do projects.

Tip: To take your productivity even further, establish a regular routine.
