A tale of a self-funded, bootstrapped startup

It is common to hear about companies that have raised vast sums of money from venture capitalists (e.g., WeWork, Airbnb, Stripe).

It is less often that you hear about self-funded startups that don’t need to take money from investors to get started. These bootstrapped startups are intentionally small, profitable, and sustainable earning income from customers.

Plausible Analytics is a team of four people building an open-source, privacy-friendly alternative to Google Analytics. They’ve never paid to advertise as their growth comes organically from word of mouth.
