70% of US adults use social media

Today seven-in-ten American adults use at least one social media platform.

Pew Research Center has tracked the rapid rise in social media usage for over fifteen years. In 2005 only 5% of the public participated in social media, jumping to half of all American adults by 2011.

This growth has slowed down significantly since 2014, and seems to have reached an unexpected plateau.
