Amazon employs 1.6M people globally, 1.1M of whom live in the United States.

There are 149 million nonfarm payroll workers in the US, which equates to 1 in 135 employed Americans working for Amazon.

Even with its massive scale, Amazon is the second largest private employer in the US. Walmart employs 1.6 million Americans (1 out of every 93).
