Who are you showing up as in groups?

Are you standing out for the right reasons?

If you want to build a community and lead others, then you’ll need to learn how to effectively participate in communities.

Online groups, in person groups, they all come and go.

There’s no shortage of how many you can join (and leave).

The problem…

Like anything in life, if you put yourself into too many of something you’re choosing quantity over quality.

Let’s be honest —

How many groups can you really be part of and actively contribute to?

Maybe you’ve been sucked in by FOMO (fear of missing out).

Oh sh#t, if I don’t join <enter name of latest guru here>’s group then I won’t be able to…

-Look cool to others because “hey, I’m hanging with <enter name of latest guru here>”

-Get their validation that what I’m doing is legit

-Suck up to said guru, and their crew, wait for them to tell me what to do and disempower myself in the process

-Plug my stuff to their community and hopefully get clients

If any of these ring true to you then it’s time for you to pause and reflect:

-When did you decide that it would be ok to treat others in a way that you would not want to be treated yourself?

-When did you decide that what someone else has to say is more valuable than what you’ve got to say?

-When will you decide that by just being you — that’s enough?

Find and join the groups that resonate with you, but only a handful of them.

Leave the rest.

Your community will thank you for it.
