Step 1

Failed Millennial Life is intended to share stories from young adults who are in the trenches — building brands, businesses, blogs, families and generally just lives they want to live on their own terms. But in lieu of sharing popular Medium stories from a successful end perspective, we want to hear your struggle, what you are learning or what you think you need to learn in this space.

Basically, we want you to write a story that you will draw on when you one day write that success post, article or book.

Step 2

We do want stories from that currently 20–25 year group but we will accept it regardless if it connects with the community. We generally do prefer a draft of what you would like to write — even if it’s just an outline with bullet points. You can click through here:

Step 3: Writing and Content

Ensure you stick to Medium’s Member Content Guidelines. We encourage authenticity, graphics, photos (your own especially) and aren’t too afraid of the profane once it’s tasteful. We aren’t on the Medium Partner Program just yet but we hope to get there soon as we build a FML community together!

Here are some tips and tricks to help you out too.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT FAILURE

We do call it FML, it’s there in the title, but it’s a play on the fact that there is a notion of what success means to Millennial Culture, but not everyone lives up or aspires to that. By that extension, our stories are Millennial counterculture — and we look forward to working with you to share them.

Once you submit a draft, we will get back to you in 3–5 days.
