Men were filmed reading aloud abusive tweets sent to sports journalists Sarah Spain (@SarahSpain) and Julie DiCaro (@JulieDiCaro). The campaign, conceived of by Just Not Sports, and directed by Chad Cooper of One Tree Forest Films, aims to draw attention to the harassment experienced by women in sports.

The comments ranged from short expletives to threats and vulgar calls for abuse. As the messages became more and more intense and crude, the men reading the tweets had trouble speaking, at times refusing to look at the journalists in the face.

The campaign definitely acts as a wake-up call to sports fans active on social media. How can similar efforts be incorporated into schools to call attention to this type of behavior at earlier stages of life?
