Chen Feng, Chairman of HNA Group and Hainan Airlines, talks to Harvard University
On Monday February 22, 2016, the Chairman of HNA Group, Chen Feng, spoke to an audience of Harvard students, faculty and the Boston community about Hainan Airlines and the globalization of Chinese business.
HNA Group is the parent company of Hainan Airlines, which launched direct flights between Boston and China in 2014. Hainan Airlines is China’s fourth largest airline, and employs a strategy of developing routes between major U.S. cities and second and third tier cities in China.
In his talk, Mr. Chen spoke of his business philosophy, which emphasizes aspects of traditional Chinese culture and Buddhist principles, as well as his plans to make Hainan Airlines an international brand.
During his visit to Harvard, Mr. Chen met with Professor Michael Szonyi, Director of the Fairbank Center, to discuss the role of traditional Chinese culture in modern society.
Chen Feng’s lecture came at the end of his visit to Harvard Business School, which he attended in 2004. Mr. Chen also holds an MBA from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
