Who am I. What I’ve done. What I’m working on.

My name is Tony, I am a 30-something creative who doesn’t know how to keep to one type of creative outlet.

I’m a photographer, graphic designer, and (most recently) email marketer/developer. The path to where I am now has been filled with long nights at events, sitting in-front of a computer screen pushing pixels or sifting through endless lines of code — but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Along the way, I have been very fortunate to work with peers and mentors who have always had my best interest in mind.

It’s because of these peers and mentors, that I have been able to succeed and thrive in each industry I’ve worked in; and in some cases allowed me to pass on the knowledge that I have gained to others.

It was when I was at my last graphic design job when the overall organization was going through some changes, I started looking for my next career move. I made a tough choice to move into digital design

With the choice to move into digital came a stark realization… I still can’t code. Regardless, I decided to apply for a position in email marketing as an email specialist. Hired to assist an email marketing manager with the day to day tasks. It was perfect…I could learn how to code emails and learn what I can about the email industry from a manager who knew what they were doing. Day 1 — The manager who hired me in had made a job change.

The first few months at this position were filled with a lot of questions and hours reverse engineering emails that where previously built; all while maintaining my job responsibilities of managing the deployment of emails for essentially two companies.

Along the way, I found #EmailGeeks; the most helpful and welcoming email community ever. With their help, I was able to absorb everything I could about email, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HTML as it pertained to email, AmpScript. This community stepped in and helped me with the various projects that I wouldn’t have known where to start otherwise.

So why the blog? My main goal for this, is to document my progress and projects that I’ve worked on over the last few years. In 10 years I have helped families and communities capture memories, helped students make life choices about college and beyond, and helped a heritage brand continue to grow their marketing program.

What to expect — A little bit of photography and how life moments are seen by the photographer (me), random artwork I create (either photography or printmaking usually), case studies about design projects and other marketing efforts, technical documentation on things I learn or research for various projects, along with some musings about other projects I may or may not explore.

Not sure where this thing will take me…but it should be fun!
