From bug reports to demos, signups to feature requests, it’s been an exciting week since we launched the beta version of our brand-new project management software: Fairview. In just seven days, we’ve been amazed by the phenomenal response and valuable user feedback, all pointing towards a promising future for Fairview. Thank you for your continued support!

Why Fairview in the first place?

After many years of managing IT organizations, we’ve learned how difficult it is to keep track of projects, budgets, and people really is. It’s not enough to just track project priority and project progress; you need to keep a close eye on the financials while also ensuring that your most important assets, the people you have working with you, are setup for success and continuing the growth in their careers and passions.

Most project management software does not take into account the financials in a clear and reliable way. Larger, more complex project portfolio management software falls short on the people side and finding the win-win scenarios for employees/contractors and companies. This is where Fairview really shines. In a simple-to-use and attractive interface, companies can prioritize projects, view project and organization financials, and help set up their resources to focus on projects that leverage their skills and future career growth to maximum potential.

The Beta

For 90 days, Fairview is running a free public beta to gather as much feedback and insight into our customer’s needs with software engineers standing by to make adjustments as needed. After the beta is complete, paid tiers will be offered as denoted on our pricing page: Fairview Pricing and Features (fairviewapp.com). We greatly appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll take this journey with us.

Key Highlights

  1. Signup improvements: Sample data. We learned from some of our users that providing sample data without labeling the data as such caused some confusion for users wondering where this data came from. We’ve since labeled sample data more directly and made it more apparent immediately after signoff on how to remove sample data.
  2. Signup improvements: Available usernames. We learned that in some cases, we were incorrectly reporting usernames being unavailable when in fact, they were.
  3. Reports: With all of the valuable information collected within Fairview, we’ve expected to spend quite a bit of time building out easy-to-use reports. Our users have recently asked for the first reports to include Monthly Expense Report and Monthly Revenue/Margin Report which are now live.
  4. Work item phases: We’re continuing to improve ways in which to view, manage, and organize work items. Work Item Phases gives a nice way to group work items into project phases, regardless of whether you use a waterfall or phase-gate project management strategy or time-boxed sprints.

Looking Forward

While we’re ecstatic about the positive response to Fairview’s first week in beta, we’re not resting on our laurels. Our team is working to incorporate feedback, fine-tune features, and enhance the overall experience. We’re confident that Fairview will change the game for organizations managing projects and empowering their team members to do the best work possible.

Stay tuned for more updates; this is only the beginning!
