The Fallujah Restructuring
or saving the world
The time always comes. The fateful time.
THIS IS NOT OUR TIME
Not yet, at least.
— by Not-our-time
Fallujah Magazine will change its very informal structure to one with more formality. (Yes, we know, deep down we are all bureaucrats. — god, maybe our time has come!) It will include three different “sections” that will deal with different material. Submissions to any of the three sections will be through e-mail or by submitting drafts to Fallujah in Medium (for those that are already writers).
- On-topic
- In memoriam
- (Un)Voices
On-topic Fallujah
In an attempt to fulfil this duty that we have imposed upon ourselves (saving the world), Fallujah Magazine will be adopting a new planning strategy that involves a topic-oriented submissions call. The strategy is really simple. Every bimonthly period, starting on January 2016, Fallujah Magazine will be accepting submissions that regard the topic of the moment. This topic will be about current issues that need protesting, that need art in order to mend our broken hearts. A member of the Fallujah Magazine editorial team will present each topic on the Medium Platform through a post just before the submissions period begins. All throughout this period of time the submissions that are accepted will be published in our online publication, and at the end of such, an online article by a member of the editorial team will give an introduction to and make online references to the articles that were accepted under the topic guidelines. The purpose of this is to bind all the submissions together. The nature of the work submitted follows the same guidelines that were presented previously in another post by the editorial team. We exhort works of art made in innovative mediums.
In memoriam
In addition to this, we will add an in memoriam section on fatal events of the XXth and XXIth century.
This section will be open for submissions of works of art that deal with such events, as a memory, not to forget. If you want to write for this section and do not know when to write about what (as there is a restricted time frame) you can check out on the internet historical events that are humanitarian tragedies; massacres are our preferred type for publication. You can take them out from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_events_named_massacres
An example of these works (some sort of pilot effort) can be found in our publication currently:
We will therefore have three separate “sections” for the Fallujah Publication: On-Topic, In Memoriam,
(Un)Voices: (this is the free submission we have known since the beginning, just renamed).
In this spirit, the first topic, for the January-February 2016 issue, will be Misplaced persons (see separate article).
It does not necessarily have to be interpreted as a topic about the Middle East refugee crisis, although this is the stronger part of the essence of this topic. The submission period will start January the 1st and end the last day of February.
