How The Simple Potato Saved Lives And Stopped A Curse.

Potatoes were known as hog feed and no one would touch them.

Antoine-Augustin Parmentier was a pharmacist and agronomist. Agronomy is the science of using plants and produce for other reasons than food.

He is best remembered as a vocal promoter of the potato as a food source for humans in France and throughout Europe. People were very reluctant to eat this tuber as it was used to feed hogs and the leaves were similar to the nightshade plant that was poison.
