I have read story after story about the difficulties of the pandemic. While I agree it has been hard, I realized the changes forced upon us have not all been negative.

Let’s face it, this pandemic has been incredibly tough for everyone. Being grouped in this category likely lends to a bias, but I feel it has been especially difficult for new parents. The isolation, the lack of help, and the regular routine lost before you even factor in the new baby.

However, while reflecting on this very challenging time, I couldn’t help but realize several positive things.

First of all, most appointments are now conducted over the phone. In 2018 as a new mom with my first daughter, it was stressful going to in-office appointments.

I would lose sleep for days leading up to an appointment or any instance we needed to be at a specific place at a specific time. Of course, I would have booked said engagement at a time that would typically work with the nap schedule. The morning would revolve around trying to stick to the plan to get out of the house on time. And because she could pick up on this, she would do the opposite. Arriving anywhere on time with an infant is always a nightmare.
