I Love you More When You’re Asleep

Love the kiddo BUT it is easier to feel it when they are asleep. I often tiptoe feeling like a thief in the night in my own home, trying to steal all the quiet that I can.

I love you
Although I love you more when you’re asleep
Matching the still of night so perfectly
Every movement I make a slow creep
Carefully trying not to awaken the beast
A rustling sound as you slightly stir
I pause in fear until a snore is heard
Light steady breathing an audible green light
That it might be safe to get some sleep tonight
I rest my head and close my eyes
Ears and mind awaiting the sound of cries
That have gone for hours and made me hate lullabies
But asleep you stay and my mind drifts away
Nope, never mind the baby is awake…
