Journalism refers to, “The production and distribution of reports on recent events”. In simpler words, you can also say that it’s — the collection, verification, and editing of news to represent it among us. It reveals the truth of events happening around us. 🎙

The below line beautifully explains to us the importance of journalism:

“Journalism is the ability to meet the challenge of filling space.”
— Rebecca West.

Quite a lot, right?

Frankly speaking, when I was in primary school 🏫, I never liked watching the news and always fought for watching cartoons. But, after sometime when I started to see news on television with my father, I observed the confidence of these journalists and the way they speak and express themselves.

That was an attractive part for me; I started aspiring to become one!

Experience made me confident 😎

To achieve what I envisioned for myself, I started to participate in debates and speech competitions and won many prizes because of my confidence and speaking skills. When I was in standard 8th or 9th, I read about problems faced by media in my Political Science book which intended me to be a Journalist. I wanted to resolve all the problems in their lives.

When I was in the 3rd standard, I had my first experience with public speaking 🎥. I was selected as the class companion for inter-class one-minute talk competition. I was scared as it meant a lot of responsibility, and I couldn’t practice before also because the topics were on the spot. Now it was a day of competition, I was quite nervous but I performed well and won the first prize 🥇.

With time my interest in public speaking led to me discovering journalism, and the news anchors speaking on the television 📺 inspired me like nothing else in this world.

Initially, the stereotypic dreams of my friends and family pulled me back but a year after this turnover, people around me, including my friends and teachers developed a different image of me as I had become an avid public speaker and they also started supporting me for my passion. I still can not forget that feeling of accomplishment and it would not be an overstatement to say that it was the best experience of my life.

In conclusion, I’d just one thing that I have realized at this tender age.

Passion and zeal can drive you to achieve anything.
