At Fandom, we consider Learning and Development to be a crucial factor in achieving success, and we expect all of our engineers to pursue them. We understand that in today’s rapidly changing Business and Technological environment, this can be a challenging task. Therefore, we are proud to present our solution — the Fandom Technical Mentorship Program

This program is designed to provide our engineers with the necessary tools and guidance to navigate the complexities of their roles, responsibilities and goals. Through this Mentorship Program, we aim to promote a culture of continuous learning and development, allowing our engineers to stay ahead of the curve in their respective fields & beyond.

Let’s start with Why!

At Fandom, we strongly believe that our Engineering Team is one of the foundations for our success. Therefore, we are committed to continuously improving our hiring processes to align with the industry. We are dedicated to nurturing our engineer’s skills and helping them acquire practical interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills. We firmly believe that knowledge sharing is the key to success, whether within an individual’s team or across the entire the Technical Organization.

To further support our engineers’ pursuit of success and knowledge, we have been considering the implementation of a structured, organized, and concise mentorship program. While we strive to optimize all of our processes, we recognize that time is the essence of such programs. In this context, mentorship is not just a friendly chat between two Engineers; rather, it is a goal-oriented process with specific outcomes. We are committed to providing mentorship from one Fanguardian to another (and yes that’s what we call our Fandom Heros 😇), reinforcing our shared values and goals.

What is in for the Mentor?

We are fortunate to have a robust engineering culture that prioritizes openness, clarity, and active knowledge sharing. We have observed our engineers proactively sharing their expertise with their colleagues on numerous occasions, in various forms and settings. This has led us to consider the wider impact of this knowledge sharing and how we can help our entire Engineering Organization benefit from it. We hold high regard for this process, as it is an expected practice for our senior engineers. Participation in this program allows them to maintain a record of their ongoing engagement, which extends beyond their own teams. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to work on their Technical Leadership skills, which will benefit them in their future endeavours within Fandom.

What is in for the Mentee?

At Fandom, we strive to provide a comprehensive mentorship program that aligns with Bloom’s Taxonomy of learning and knowledge management. Finding the right mentor is critical to success. As a Mentee, you will have the opportunity to practice knowledge acquisition, problem analysis, and solutioning. You will have the freedom to choose your own mentorship path and determine how best to achieve your goals.

The Program offers an amazing chance to learn from the best engineers we have at Fandom and expands our Mentee's current and future horizons. It is a golden opportunity to engage in continuous learning and development, with the added benefit of a supportive Technical Organization that offers the resources, tools and guidance they need to succeed.

Final thoughts

We can’t wait to see the positive impact of this program on our engineers, teams and overall organization. If you’re curious about who can take part in this program, the answer is simple: it is open to all the engineers at Fandom, regardless of their seniority or position. This program offers an exciting journey for every engineer, and we highly encourage everyone in our Technical Organization to seize this opportunity and make the most of it.
