An Unlikely Fan Favorite is Coming to FIFA 23
FIFA 23 is releasing very soon with a slew of new features coming to the popular simulation game about soccer. One of these features is the announcement of the extremely unorthodox release of a fictional character and team to be used in FIFA 23. This strange addition is confirmed to be none other than fan favorite coach Ted Lasso, with his team AFC Richmond.
Ted Lasso is a fictional character that was used in advertisements when NBC became the network to host the Premier League for Football (Soccer). The actor that portrayed Ted Lasso in the commercials, Jason Sudeikis, started wondering what it would be like if Ted made his way to the small screen as an actual series. So he wrote up a couple of scripts and sent them off to the creator of the series Scrubs, Bill Lawrence, and it was approved. And so, Ted Lasso was born, with Sudeikis both writing it, producing it, and starring in it. It is an Apple TV+ exclusive.
Ted Lasso is the over bubbly and positive fictional American football coach from Kansas City who is hired by an English woman to be the new coach, or gaffer if you will, of an English Premiere League Professional Football (Soccer) team. It has two seasons, with one more on the way. It is a comedy at its core but has drama and romance, which makes it much more than just a comedy. I personally wish I could be more like Ted, he is such an amazing character, as well as all of his support characters. Everyone has done such an amazing job with their respective roles, and it really made me feel for them. I encourage everyone to go try it out, even if you aren’t a fan of soccer. It’s really good!

The series did so well that it has won over 10 Emmys and was nominated 40 times. This announcement was a dream come true for many fans including myself, and even though it is a fictional team and character, it deserves to be in FIFA 23. It isn’t just the coach either, it’s the entire team, so the player can absolutely bring the show to life through the last entry to FIFA. I personally can’t wait for this game.

This whole concept is simply amazing, who’d have thought a fictional character and team would ever be in a football simulation title? It seems like an out-of-season April fools joke, but it is a very unlikely but well-received and appreciated addition to FIFA 23.
FIFA 23 releases on September 30, 2022, but EA PLAY and Game Pass subscribers can play for 10 hours on September 26, and the players that have preordered the ultimate edition of the game can play on September 26, without any restrictions.
