Newsletter #21: A Joyful End to July
Hi everyone!
My job has been kicking my keister, so I haven’t touched FF in a while. I thank you all for staying followed; being a camp counselor to a group of six-year-olds is fun, but exhausting work nonetheless with long hours in the sun. It makes me think about my future and whether I want to work in education or in editing. I’m leaning more toward the educator path, but I’m keeping my options open as I do research this summer.
As another update, the podcast is still on hold, maybe indefinitely; I want to focus on expanding FF and keeping it going instead. I apologize for getting people excited, but until I have a co-editor or someone else on the editing squad who can help me manage the workload, I’m going to be putting a pin in the idea. I’m thinking of updating the articles with spoiler tags, too; one called Major Spoilers and one called Minor Spoilers. I think it’ll help people differentiate between articles mainly for people who are already into the media (Example: People who have seen and are fans of a book, movie, etc.) vs. readers who are just dipping their toes into a fandom/piece of media, but don’t want to know everything. This isn’t something you guys have to worry about as I typically edit the tags before the pieces go out; it’s just so you all know what this tag means.
I think that’s all for updates. I will try to reach out to some new writers this week but no promises; as I said previously, my kiddos and the summer heat have been wearing me out. As soon as I get home, I’m usually crawling into bed. Today has only been different because of the existence of caffeinated willpower, and because I feel that I’ve neglected FF for far too long. Reading the work you all produce and helping writers be their best is a reward within itself that I have missed.
If you’re new here, email moonstarsworld@gmail.com or leave a comment to be added to the publication and publish your article on fictional media. It has to be 800 words and have at least one picture. It’s an unpaid opportunity, but great for free editing, gaining an increase in followers and to stretch your writing muscles. So, feel free to join us and see your piece on FF’s front page.
Best,
Erin
