It’s carnival time for the cricket fans as the 2019 ICC World Cup begins. All the teams look geared up with their superstars and are looking forward to providing their one hundred percent best in the United Kingdom. On the day of the World Cup, we shall take a look at five players who might prove to be the trump cards for their teams during their cup campaign.

The ever-reliant FAB Four consisting Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson, shall be excluded from this list as they are expected to come good every time they step on the pitch.

Here we go, the Game Changers are mentioned below:

DAVID WARNER:

The Australian Star Man is set to make a comeback after a year-long ban from international cricket. The big-hitting opener will look to fire all cylinders this world cup and take his team across the line. He looked in fine nick against England in the sole Warm up game he played scoring a witty 43. Warner would look to carry the stupendous form he showed in this edition of IPL.

Warner breezes past other Aussies to make into this list as he is their talisman. Watch out, opponents! The man might announce his comeback with a bang!

ANDRE RUSSELL:

This man had to make this list for sure. His form in the IPL was nothing short of a fairy tale for any power hitter. He amassed 510 runs in 14 matches with a whopping strike rate of 204.81 and hitting 52 biggies. He has been called to the Windies line up to showcase his super skills this World Cup even though, he managed only one outing in ODIs in the past 3 years. The Dre Russ is a handy bowler as well, passing the 140 kmph mark with ease. Players need the conditions to be in their favour, but that isn’t the case for Dre Russ. Give him a bat and he’ll send quite a few, way past the boundary line. He showed us what he’s made of in the warm up game against New Zealand, scoring a quick fire fifty and took his team past 400 mark.

JOS BUTTLER:

Jos has been in the form of his life averaging 71 at a strike rate of 149.0 in ODIs 2019. England’s attack mode is nicely picked up by this lad, coming down the order, he scoring vital runs at a very quick rate. Buttler was good in the IPL too, though he opened the innings for Rajasthan Royals.

Scoring Half Centuries has become a piece of cake for this player. All the English men compliment each other very well and his role is vital in England’s performance this World Cup. Jos’s form might turn out to be the key for England’s first Trophy.

JASPRIT BUMRAH:

Need to contain batsmen at the end, Bumrah is your man! His pinpoint Yorkers and superb variations add spice to his already confusing action. He is the World number one bowler and a nightmare for the batsmen. The Yorker he bowled to dismiss Colin Munro in the first warm-up game and Shakib in the second, showed us why he is one of the best, if not the best, in business. When you bowl a Yorker like that in your quiver, it doesn’t matter what kind of pitch is there.

There are bound to be overcast conditions in England like during the warm-up game. With Bumrah’s pace and ability to swing the ball both ways he will be Virat Kohli’s go-to man in this World Cup whether it is with the new ball, in middle overs or at the death. It won’t be a surprise if batsmen choose to just play out his overs.

JOFRA ARCHER:

One does not make it into a World Cup squad like England after just playing a handful number of ODIs before the tournament. But Archer has had a sensational run, playing T20 leagues across the globe and beating the best batsmen in the business with raw pace and skill. The Sussex fast bowler has proved himself on English pitches and is expected to be the X-factor with the bowl for England. All-rounders are the talk of the town this World Cup and Jofra is one in the making.

He is still very young and we expect him to make a mark at the international stage of cricket with his raw pace. This world cup might just be the best time to show what you are made of. He’s got it in his blood, the fiery pace, the swag!

These are the players whom we think might prove to be too good for the opposition. Stay tuned for many more articles this World Cup. Looking forward to an exciting tournament this summer!
