The multi-starrer film of Karan Johar has caught the attention of cinephiles all over the world. Stars like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, and Madhuri Dixit were roped in for this Dharma movie and the excitement of the fans went sky high. The teaser created a positive impact and the songs released Ghar more pardesiya and First class became viral sensations. Now, finally just ahead of its release, Kalank trailer is out and here is our take on it!

Just as we saw in the teasers and posters, the sets of the flick are extravagant. The stars are also seen in their traditional best. We did expect the flick to be high on intense emotions and love story and so it is.

Kalank

However, the trailer of the film will give you a major feeling of Deja Vu! The BGM and the sets will make you revisit the Bhansali films especially Devdas, for sure. The story seems to be a period-movie version of KJO’s own Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. The last shot shown in the trailer is eerily similar to the evergreen climax of DDLJ. The action scenes have a strong influence of Baahubali.

Kalank - Official Trailer by Fox Star Studios

The story seems to be all over the place and the emotions look cardboard and staged. Varun can play a street smart goofy guy but he still has a long way to go, to do justice to an SRKesque role like Zafar in Kalank. Alia is given too much importance in the trailer **hush..hush.. papa johar just can’t let others take center stage when it’s aloo** We see very less of Sonakshi and Aditya in the video. Also, what the fans were most excited about was Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit’s presence together and the trailer disappoints on that part as well!

Will ‘Kalank’ re-ignite the sparks between Sanju & Madhuri?

The teaser had done its job but the trailer which was trying to enhance the impact has done more harm than good in reducing the hype. The trailer is instilled under the garb of mediocre drama and melancholic depression which can be handled by only extremely good actors which the stars of Kalank are definitely not..However, we hope that the flick has something more to offer! The film is all set to release on 17 April 2019.
