Majili Review:
Majili — Redemption of a loser both On and Offscreen!

Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s movie ‘Majili’ hit the screens today, on April 5th. The film is made with middle-class sentiments and especially the character of Samantha is said to be a major highlight of Majili. The film has been awarded U/ A certificate without any cuts. The film is being directed by Shiva Nirvana which has music by Gopi Sundar and Thaman.

The story is all about a middle-class teenager, Poorna played by Chay, who has a passion for cricket. He meets a girl named Anshu played by newcomer Divyansha, their friendship grows into love. Parents oppose and they get separated. Poorna goes into depression and loses all his goals and ambitions. After a few years, due to pressure from family, he marries Sravani played by Samantha, who has been in love with him since her teenage which Poorna doesn't know about. Poorna becomes completely dependant on Sravani for his needs including daily expenditure. But Sravani supports him no matter what so that one day his pain is healed. One fine day he comes to know that he has a daughter from Anshu who died in a car accident. He brings her home and the rest of the story is how the little girl helps Poorna and Sravani discover love and life with each other.

The first half of the film is completely youth and love oriented which will attract the young generation. The second half mainly focuses on intense conversations and family emotions. So in a way, the director has made the film which appeals to all section of audiences. The music and BGM are one of the many plus points of the film. The editing could have been better as some scenes drag and add to the movie’s length. The main drawback is that the story isn’t anything novel, but the treatment is good which will have a good impact on the audience. The film has many shades of Devdas, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and other Bollywood movies and even serials. It seems like we have seen a showreel of all the films and serials we can ever remember.

Naga Chaitanya can have a smile on his face after a long time as the film is bound to do well at the box office. Special mention to the excellent performance of Samantha and Rao Ramesh who heightened the impact of many scenes. Overall Shiva Nirvana has made another good romantic family entertainer after Ninnu Kori.

Final Tag Line: Overall a good watch.

We give 3 kicks out of 5 to Majili.
