World Cup 2019, Story of the Mumbai Indians’ trio ROHIT, HARDIK & BUMRAH!
The ICC World Cup 2019 is here and the Indian Cricket Team looks in good shape with all its issues sorted. All the players in the line up came good in the just concluded IPL and will look to bank on their top form.
We shall look into the story of Mumbai Indians’ Trio — Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, and analyse how big a threat they are to the opposition.
Rohit Sharma is the heart of the Indian batting line up, along with Virat Kohli. The Mumbai Indians skipper is calm and composed at the top of the order who scores a lot of runs and builds his innings to bat deep into the match.
IPL was worth to participate for the players, as it allowed them to hone their skills before the World Cup and make necessary improvements. Staying calm in what might seemingly be crunch situations is the key to success and the trio, having won the IPL, will know what is expected of them.
Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are a class apart in each of their departments. When asked about their performances and mindset for the World Cup, Rohit Sharma was quick to respond as he showered heaps of praise for both the players.
“They’ve been shaping up well. Both are heading into their first World Cup. Both are cricketers with positive mindsets. They love a challenge when presented with one. All of that along with the performances they’ve had in the last few months — it augurs well.”
“The good thing about both of them is they constantly want to improve, want to be in the middle of action. Hardik played some crucial knocks this IPL. He’s someone who’s always looking to contribute in some capacity. Bumrah’s difficult to read, and then that pace he can whip up. He’s very different, very special,” Sharma said about Pandya and Bumrah.
Rohit Sharma’s performances on English soil have been exceptional, he has scored 687 runs in 15 innings with a sound average of 52.85 and a decent strike rate. He should be fairly confident for this World Cup, after having performed well for the team during the Champions Trophy 2013, 2017 editions held in England.
Hardik Pandya has had a decent outing in the English conditions as well, scoring vital runs at a strike rate of over 150 in ODIs. A flamboyant player, with hunger to perform, Hardik Pandya will be the go-to man for turning the game into India’s favour. He has been a handy sixth bowling option for the Indian team, picking a few important scalps. On the other hand, Bumrah, who has had modest outings in England, will be keen to up the ante this time around and show us why he is the best in business.
With the onus lying on the top 3 in the batting order, Sharma will look to come out firing all guns and help the team post a decent total. Pandya, coming down the order, is expected to make the crowd go berserk with his powerful blows. And Bumrah would look to lead the pace attack with some outstanding bowling and restrict the opposition in the death overs.
All in all, this Mumbai Indians’ trio will play a key role in India’s success in this World Cup. They bring flavour to the team and not to forget, ‘Loads of Experience’ as well. Whenever these guys step onto the pitch, it is a treat to watch for the fans and a nightmare to the opposition!
