In the 2018/19 season Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were both crucial to their side’s success on the pitch.

The two racked up an impressive 51 goals between them as Arsenal entered a new era under Unai Emery who eventually finished fifth place and reached the UEFA Europa League Final in his first season.

The pair of ex-Ligue 1 strikers have been cast aside by some fans who believe the side will be better off in the long run if the North Londoners were to sell one of the two players.

This could fund positions such as a winger and a centre-back with the likes of Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Saint-Etienne’s William Saliba strongly linked to the Gunners over recent weeks.

It is unlikely that Arsenal would entertain any kind of a deal for Lacazette or Aubameyang with Atletico Madrid and Manchester United sniffing around.

The Gabonese forward is now the wrong side of 30 and the Frenchman being just two years younger at 28-years-old.

Time is not on their side and their value will only depreciate which will give Arsenal the decision to stick or cash in on their prize assets.

Aubameyang was prolific for Arsenal last season

One option which hasn’t been exercised as of yet is playing Lacazette in the No10 role if Arsenal were to sell their highest earner Mesut Ozil who are catting to get the German off their ever-growing wage bill.

Moving the former Lyon striker into this role will free the Premier League golden boot winner from the wing which he is sometimes forced to play to accommodate Lacazette.

This means they could possibly be an even deadlier duo going forward as Emery looks to move back to his favoured 4–2–3–1 formation.

Lacazette and Aubameyang made for a great partnership last season

Lacazette played this role for Lyon and the French national team in the past and given the modern games demands, a traditional No10 is more suited to the Frenchman’s pace and skill over Ozil’s eye for a pass.

The second option could see either of the forwards sold to raise funds for others to come in to bolster other areas of the squad with owner Stan Kroenke unlikely to invest.

Arsenal would lose out on a huge attacking threat if either of them were to seek pastures new.

Arsenal should keep both if they are serious about returning to Champions League football next season as a world class striker doesn’t come around often.

Even less often does it come around twice at the same time which they currently have with the No9 and No14 currently at the club.
