Q: What are AML and KYC checks, and why are they important?

AML and KYC stand for “Anti-Money Laundering” and “Know Your Customer” respectively. They are important from both regulatory and legal perspectives. FANTOM must collect all relevant information on every contributor to ensure FANTOM is not receiving funds from the proceeds of crime, or from those that have been financially or politically sanctioned.

Q: Who are performing the AML/KYC checks?

FANTOM is using Cynopsis (https://www.cynopsis-solutions.com), a company that has provided AML/KYC services to multiple projects in the Distributed Ledger space.

Q: Am I required to present a proof of address (such as a utility bill)?

No

Q: What procedures have been implemented to keep my data safe?

FANTOM encrypts your data using Advanced Encryption Standard 256, the same kind of encryption used to encrypt data on iPhones. Using public-key cryptography, FANTOM decrypts your data in a secure, offline environment. All relevant data is also submitted to Cynopsis, which has its own security methods for protecting your data.

After the Crowdsale is complete, all personally identifiable data will be expunged from our systems

Q: When will I know if I have been successfully whitelisted?

You will receive an email if you have been successfully whitelisted as soon as Cynopsis performs its relevant checks, which could be soon after you make a successful submission on our website.

All whitelisted addresses should be submitted to the Crowdsale contract by 14 June 2018, 9am GMT + 0 by FANTOM. You can then follow our “How to Check Your Whitelist Status” guide.
