We’ve Just Released the Fantom Testnet
The Fantom Version 0.4.5-rc.1, (or testnet, to use the parlance of other projects) is now available. This is a big milestone for us. We’re nowhere near finished, but our progress to date is a validation of our goals, a demonstration of our ability to deliver, and will set the pace for our future development releases.
Included in this milestone is a string of smaller development milestones and achievements, including the Fantom web, mobile, and desktop implementations and redesigns (source code available on the Fantom GitHub) with updated interfaces.
We’ve also added a bunch of other documentation to our GitHub, including how-to guides to support early adopters, as well as releasing our code to the open source community.
Anybody can interact with the Fantom testnet using go-lachesis. Speed isn’t our priority. Quality is. We have been focusing on the quality and performance of the core codebase to ensure we hit a production ready system as early as Q1 next year. Soon we’ll be releasing details on the quality of code, too, to show the community what we’ve been doing and how we’ve been doing it.
We aim to maintain this pace of development over the next year. We’ll keep showing you what we’re up to — as transparency and close community relationships are what Fantom is about — and develop at a rate in keeping with expectations, but which doesn’t jeopardize quality. This will include further developing the testnet into its next iteration, adding implementations overtime and slowly expanding its functionality.
We’re excited, and we hope you are too. The release of testnet concludes our achievements in 2018 and sets the standard for 2019; from one year to the next, we’ll continue working hard to deliver on the vision of Fantom: a scalable, ‘beyond blockchain’ DAG-based platform and ecosystem.
