Earlier this month we announced our collaboration with Porsche for their very first NFT auction. Peter Varga, Director of Exterior Design from Porsche, created a “1 of 1” piece of art for a charity auction authenticated through blockchain technology with proceeds going to Viva con Agua.

The official winning bid has been announced and the lucky owner is Ed Voyles of Atlanta, Georgia (USA) who finalized his bid at 30.25 ETH (around 75,000 EUR / 88,000 USD at the time). Ed now owns this physical and digital (NFT) original piece of art authenticated through blockchain technology. We are happy to share an exclusive interview with Ed Voyles:

FANZONE: How does it feel to be the owner of Porsche’s very first NFT!?

Ed: It feels amazing not only to be a part of Porsche’s incredible history, but to also know the proceeds are going towards Viva con Agua’s amazing efforts- makes it a win-win.

FANZONE: How long have you been involved in cryptocurrency or NFT collectibles?

Ed: After realizing the importance of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in December 2017, I followed the market for a year and had fortunate timing with the market when I jumped into Bitcoin and Ethereum in December 2018. I am much newer to NFTs. My twin brother, “@punk3448.eth”, has been in NFTs since 2018 and is the person who recently introduced me to NFTs. We even made our own NFTs for fun called “Jim & Eds” and have been giving them out to our friends as an introduction to NFTs.

FANZONE: How did you hear about this auction? And what drew you to wanting to own this piece of art?

Ed: I initially heard about Porsche entering NFTs through Twitter when it was first announced and was excited from the beginning. I know Porsche has some of the best collectors in the world, and it is so early in the NFT space, I decided there was no way I could let someone else get this historic piece. I viewed this as a once in a life-time opportunity and am thrilled to be the original owner.

FANZONE: This piece comes as a digital and physical, what are your thoughts on that?

Ed: I think the piece being digital and physical adds value and makes it more collectible as it is among the first pieces of art offered of this nature. Actually getting to keep the physical copy will be an amazing experience and the NFT attached will act as proof of ownership on the blockchain.

FANZONE: How long have you been a fan of Porsche?

Ed: I have been a fan of Porsche for as long as I can remember and recently purchased a Cayenne GTS Coupe. I am hoping to buy a 911 in the near future and start collecting Porsche’s.

FANZONE: What are your thoughts on the future of NFTs and collectibles?

Ed: In the future, I believe many of the important physical objects we buy, such as houses and cars — will come with NFT’s as proof of ownership. I think it’s so early in the space that collectibles will continue to have value as more people are introduced to the space and NFT’s become used in our daily lives.

We thank Ed Voyles for his time and congratulate him on being the official owner of the first ever Porsche NFT! The future of NFTs is bright and we are happy to be making history with Porsche and Viva con Agua.

This is only the beginning, follow us into the future at FANZONE.
