Berlin, August 22 2022 — For the start of the Basketball European Championship EuroBasket 2022 on September 1 2022, FANZONE and the German Basketball Association have started their cooperation. Together, they will launch new, digital trading cards, so-called “Non-fungible-Tokens” (NFTs) on the multisport NFT platform. In comparison to images from the internet that are copiable, fans each get their unique asset. The unique trading cards each have a serial number will be minted on the Polygon blockchain and will be available on Fanzone.io and their mobile apps on August 31.

With the exclusive “EURO Pack”, fans can collect digital trading and autograph cards from the likes of Daniel Theis, Dennis Schröder, the brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner and all other players from the German National Team. The verified single copies also contain thrilling perks that will get the fans excited: For everyone that completed the whole “RARE” Collection will have the chance to win one of five used and signed basketballs from the team, via the Collect-2-Earn-method. For a complete “EPIC” Collection, fans can look forward to a special card and one of five signed home jerseys.

Additionally, FANZONE offers DBB challenges, where users can use their cards: Everybody selects their Starting 5 NFTs for every game and can be rewarded with additional NFT packs, signed basketballs, jerseys and even a special fan experience: the invitation to a training session from the DBB with a Meet&Greet.

“Big tournaments always arouse a passion for collecting with sports fans. That is why we are very happy to present our NFTs from the National Basketball Team, in time for the European Championship in our home country”, says DBB President Ingo Weiss. “This is just the beginning. Together with FANZONE, we will be launching digital trading cards of the Womens Team and the 3x3 team as well.”

“We are delighted, to, next to the DFB, have signed yet another big national sport association with the German Basketball Association at FANZONE. Basketball is a focus topic, next to football and with the European Championship in our home country, we have found the perfect timing, to give the basketball fans an exclusive Special Collection with limited, digital trading cards, combined with awesome fan experiences”, adds Dirk Weyel, Co-Founder & CEO of FANZONE.

The NFTs from FANZONE are minted on the Polygon Blockchain, an Etherum Sidechain, which is considered to be a “Green Blockchain”. The Polygon Blockchain uses 99.9% less energy, compared to ETH 2.0 thanks to “Proof-of-Stake”. Compared to “Proof of Work”, Polygon uses the Proof of Stake validation, which has a much lower energy consumption.

The exclusive DBB “EURO Pack” will be available on FANZONE for 9,99€. All the information about the cooperation and recent news are available on the website https://www.fanzone.io/dbb/.

What are NFTs?

With blockchain technology, limited digital objects can be created that can not be copied or shared. These „Non-fungible-Token“ (NFTs) guarantee authenticity, scarcity and rarity of these objects — a digital unique copy. Another advantage is that all goods are available on the blockchain forever and exist independently from apps or stores. Fans are the true owners of their collections of rare digital trading cards and can benefit from their potential increase in value.
