Berlin, September 28, 2022: The Berlin-based start-up FANZONE Media GmbH has been able to attract renowned investors in its current financing round. In a first closing, 1.8 million euros were raised from business angels and strategic investors with different focuses.

In the sports sector, the digital colectibles start-up secures additional know-how and networking through sports media entrepreneurs Lukas Seiler, Dr. Johannes Ranke and Sascha Kojic. The former Sportradar, Sport1 and Discovery executives will not only support FANZONE as investors, but also play an active role in expanding FANZONE’s business model. The Berlin-based startup will thus evolve from a B2C-focused multisport platform to a B2B2C service platform targeting sports leagues, federations, clubs and other rights holders interested in next-level fan experiences.

Other angel investors in this round come from the games space with Tung Nguyen-Khac (ex-Pro7 Games CEO, ex-Spil Games CEO) and Gamescoin Group. Gerald Schömbs (entrepreneur, angel investor and consultant) as well as the agency Schröder+Schömbs PR, Boontham Temaismithi (Co-Founder TLGG GmbH, Co-CDO edding AG, angel investor) and Klaus Goldhammer (owner Goldmedia), who joined this round together with other financial investors, bring marketing and agency expertise.

FANZONE Co-Founder and CEO Dirk Weyel on the current financing round: “We are very pleased about the commitment of the investors, especially because FANZONE will benefit greatly from the expertise and active support of the various experts. We are currently working on the expansion of our business model to B2B2C and the consistent expansion of our partner network. For this purpose, we are currently talking to various other strategically valuable investors and will look to increase the current financing round to 3 million euros.”

Berlin-based FANZONE is one of the first European multisport platforms for limited digital collectibles on the blockchain. Its partners include the German Football Association (DFB) and the German Basketball Association (DBB), the German Olympic team, as well as traditional and successful clubs such as Schalke 04, VfL Wolfsburg, the basketball players of FC Bayern Munich and the handball Bundesliga teams Rhein-Neckar Löwen and SG Flensburg Handewitt. The collectibles are based on the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) technology. They are listed on the Polygon blockchain.
