1. “Building a community before the first drop”- Blake Jamieson
2. “Utility is key” — AJ Vaynerchuk
3. “It’s important to create value for the users”- Andrew Steinthal
During the last year people around the world have been missing the physical community around them and memorable group experiences. Innovation has sparked around these topics and things are becoming more digital, including sports! An exciting new event this spring brought together athletes, fans, technologists, gamers, collectors, artists and more called “Crypto Sports Week”.
Crypto Sports Week was hosted digitally from May 11th-May 15th on platforms like YouTube and Clubhouse. Events included various topics such as, “Overview of the NFT Ecosystem”, “Artists x Athletes”, “Dropping Kobe 1’s Into the Digital World”, “New Age of Collectibles” and more, including FANZONES feature in “Capturing Sports Culture as It Happens”. Special guests also included Megan Rapinoe, Sue Bird, Micah Johnson, RTFKT Studios, AJ Vaynerchuk and many more!
What better way to introduce FANZONE than to be featured in Crypto Sports Week?! At FANZONE it is “Crypto x Sports” 24/7. Co-Founders Bjorn Hesse and Claudio Weck represented FANZONE on May 15th during “Capturing Sports Culture as It Happens”, speakers included legendary sports photographer Walter Iooss Jr., professional soccer player Shade Pratt, host Jasmine Maietta, founder of round21 as well as Lady Pheonix, who also previously hosted “Crypto Fashion Week” and “Meta_VS”.
As discussion opened up on this talented stage, Walter Iooos Jr. shared memorable experiences from working closely with Kobe Bryant and meeting Kobe as a rookie for a photoshoot for trading cards. “Kobe was much bigger than a basketball player-Kobe had it all”. People have these meaningful connections to athletes, teams, artists and more and at FANZONE there is an opportunity for fans to create these experiences and connections with their favourite stars by collecting, trading, and playing with digital trading cards (NFTs). Professional soccer player, Shade Pratt also shared her experience as a professional female athlete and artist who is diving into the NFT space. Shade explained the importance of getting to know athletes outside of their jerseys and how a professional athlete can leave a legacy how they want to by utilizing blockchain technology and NFTs as a new form of expression and a way for fans to form connections through these collections.
Co-Founder Bjorn Hesse shared an inspiring story when discussing gender equality in sports and collectibles. “We want to empower female athletes at FANZONE. I overheard a girl ask her mom while looking at sport collectibles one time why they don’t have any girls and realized all the trading cards are about male athletes, we’d like to give women athletes this platform”. Co-Founder Claudio Weck discussed the benefits of utilizing LUKSO’s blockchain technology. “We’re enabling an ecosystem out of it and a social network — Somewhere where users and fans can play and display their fandom, we are utilizing LUKSO’s Universal Profiles”. Also explaining with blockchain technology, “We want to create an experience and it came down to digital trading cards. We consume digitally and represent ourselves digitally, people really identify with their digital self. I believe these are the next steps”.
As host Jasmine Maietta said to the co-founders from FANZONE , “We need agents of change like you to step in”- the team at FANZONE is looking forward to the future and sharing this change we are bringing with the world!
