Submit Your Story

Far and Wide is about the trasnformative power of travel. Our inspirations are Jan Morris, Paul Theroux, Paul Bowles, William Least Heat Moon and other greats of the travel genre, with a little David Sedaris and Joan Didion thrown in for good essay-measure. We’re looking for a piece that is more than writing-while-typing. We want great structure that takes the reader on a journey and insights that lift the piece to a universal level. Lofty I know.

We are also practical sorts over here too so if you’re not feeling lofty, send us your best travel hacks. What’s your secret to striking up conversation? How do you handle getting bumped? How do you set up on the beach for the perfect day? That sort of thing. Get creative. We’ve all read enough packing tips.

How to become a contributor

Send an email to barbararay@me.com with the subject line of “Far and Wide.” In the email please include your Medium profile and a short pitch for the story.

Once you’re added as a writer: We’ll notify you and then you can submit your stories by creating an original draft, clicking on the three little dots in the top right corner, and selecting Far and Wide. We’ll review the submission and get back to you with a decision.
