Crop advisory involves information about the type of seed to be sown, exact time to sow, type and quantity of fertilizer to be added based on the soil health.

Many farmers prefer the traditional way to estimate time of sowing. The disturbed weather cycles in the recent time makes it difficult for the farmers to predict the perfect sowing time that gives them perfect results. Moreover, farmers tend to follow each other due to lack of perfect knowledge about the time to sow. the one with better soil reaps good produce while most of the farmers fail to do so.

As there are new hybrids and varieties of seeds emerging everyday, it is important to train and educate the farmers about them. Also knowledge about pests, water spacing, and requirements to prepare their soil for cultivation can be very useful for the farmers to increase yield and benefit from the variety of seeds used.

The information services would also advise farmers about various precautions that can be taken to prevent losses due to pest attacks, overuse of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs.
