Health, according to the World Health Organization, is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity”

Health can be promoted by encouraging certain activities, such as regular physical exercise and consuming the right amount of nutrient. Some of the factors that affect our health are mainly due to individual choices of which Food choice is one.

Whatever goes into our mouth has a significant impact on our health, both long and short term.
The way we require the right information to properly carry out duties in our day to day activities can be likened to food and how it gives our bodies the right set of information to properly function and do what is expected of it . If the wrong information (food) is passed , our metabolic processes can suffer and our health can decline. Eating well helps to reduce the risk of physical health problems like heart disease and diabetes among others. It also helps with sleeping patterns, energy levels, and your general health.

Healthy food choices such as fruits and vegetables have not only physical but also mental health benefits and is a long-term investment in overall well-being.

The benefits of healthy eating goes beyond just our physical health, it also has tremendous impact on our mental and emotional well being. When you develop the habit of consuming nutrient-rich foods, you’re setting yourself up for fewer mood swings, better mental space and an improved ability to focus.

Some Healthy Eating Tips

  • Cut down on processed, sugar-filled snacks, candy and soda, as this can impair your ability to concentrate and also affect your energy level .
  • Take your fruits and veggies seriously as they help will reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar
  • Consume more of healthy fats, such as olive oil, coconut oil and avocado. They support the brain
  • Develop the habit of shopping healthy. If possible, make a list and stick to it.
  • If possible, do not wait to shop or eat while very hungry, as you will be pushed to make unhealthy impulse decisions.
  • Stay hydrated

Shortly put, the nutrition you accept in your body can help you avoid certain diseases that can put your life at risk and cause your overall health to deteriorate.
