Santa Baby just slip a Ringly under the tree for me..

In 2014 technology and fashion danced in interesting ways, some quite successful, some not so much. It is always a delight to see wearables that incorporate functionality without compromising on style and with only a few days left til Christmas, I decided to share with you some of my favourites.

Knomo Chargeable Pouch

Knomo’s Chargeable Pouch

Knomo (Knowledge + Mobility) are a London based company specializing in luxury travel products for people on the go. The chargeable pouch is beautifully designed, made from soft and luxurious lightweight nylon with Saffiano leather trim. It features a dedicated padded section for a smartphone and integrated power to keep you charged on the go. The two main internal sections keep everything organised. Best part? It’s available to order now and won’t break the bank. Want!

Everpurse

Everpurse

Everpurse should be a necessity for every chic tech girl. These clutches charge your phone without any cables or cords. Instead, all you need to do is to drop your phone into Everpurse’s charging pocket and it immediately begins to charge. If you upgrade your phone, you can simply upgrade your Everpurse charging pocket as well.

Ringly

Ringly

Ringly is a smart ring that alerts you about calls, texts, emails, social notifications or calendar events stylishly and discretely through vibration and light. The company places fashion and simplicity first, and their product line is a collection come in five styles, each with a different precious or semi-precious stone. Available to pre-order.

Kovert Designs

Kovert Designs rings and necklaces

While the world is under the FOMO factor, Kovert Designs CEO Kate Unswort is happy to suffer from JOMO — Joy of Missing Out. The trend for mindfulness and being in the moment were the driver behind the birth of Kovert Designs — a smart jewelry company that empowers you to take a step away from your smartphone by invisibly integrating technology into designer jewellery. Subtle vibrations alert you for predefined text, email, call or whatsapp notifications from certain people or with specific keywords, so that you can cut out the noise and focus on the stuff that really matters. Available to order now.

Cuff

The Cuff’s wearable accessories collection

The Cuff are really smart. Each of their bracelets, necklaces and key chains has a small component which acts as a notification system. The component can be removed and put into any of the products of the Cuff collection.

The Cuff alerts the wearer about calls, texts, social updates, notifies you about how active you are throughout the day and acts as a safety notification device. It lets the wearer instantly send their location coordinates to loved ones in case of emergency. It’s not surprising that they won the Decoded Fashion NYC Startup competition. Well deserved! Available to preorder.

Ring

Also known as pure magic. The ring that lets you control anything! Think gesture control, payments, texts, home appliances and much more.

The steps to make the magic happen are simple: wear the ring, start the gesture control by tapping on the touch sensor and start “writing in the air”. You can edit the gestures for each application or set customized ones through your phone or tablet. Witchcraft!

Rebecca Minkoff x Case Mate

RM x Case Mate

When it comes to forward fashion brands, RM is definitely at the forefront of innovation. The designer teamed up with Case-Mate to create two complementing wearable tech bracelets — a charging bracelet and one that alerts you about incoming calls and texts. These reportedly cost $60 and $120 respectively, which, unlike many designer wearables are unexpectedly affordable.

Beacon & Lively

Beacon & Lively

I’m such a fan of Beacon & Lively! Having met them at the FashInvest conference earlier this month, I managed to get my hands on their beautiful wearable bracelets. As co-founders Dave and Veronica say “We put technology in its place”. The bracelets alerts you to calls and texts with subtle colours and vibrations. The accessories come in 3 different styles — silver, gold and black. Available to preorder.

Q Designs

Q Designs’ unisex bracelets

Imagine you’re running out of battery (again) and desperately need your phone. BOOM! Transform your stylish bracelet into a functional phone charger. The Q will charge your phone with up to 60% more. The bracelets don’t only come in a range of different styles (polished silver, matte silver, black and gold) but also different sizes (S, M & L) making them a fashionable unisex accessory.

With that, dear all, I wish you very happy & fashionable holidays. And, as Kristen Bell sings, “please remember this December to fully charge your phone”.
