Karl Lagerfeld is a German fashion designer, photographer, and artist, who spent most of his professional career in Paris. He is the creative director and head designer of both Chanel and Fendi, along with his own fashion label.

Karl Lagerfeld began his career in fashion when he was hired by Pierre Balmain to be his assistant. After several years he then worked for Jean Patou, designing haute couture, which he did for about five years.

After years of poorly received collections, he started to design for Tiziani, in 1963. He designed for Tiziani until 1969, when he was replaced by Guy Douvier.

Starting in 1972, he has collaborated with Fendi, working on collections for clothing, furs, and accessories.

In 2004, Karl Lagerfeld partnered with H&M, offering a collection of clothes for women and men.

In 2006, he launched a collection called K Karl Lagerfeld, including jeans and T-Shirts.

As one of the world’s most celebrated fashion designers, Karl Lagerfeld is globally renowned for his aspirational and cutting-edge approach to style. The iconic designer’s namesake fashion house reflects his own signature aesthetic through creative, cool and accessible-luxe apparel and accessories.

KARL LAGERFELD delivers distinctive style and quality to consumers through a breadth of collections including ready-to-wear for men and women, accessories, bags, watches and eyewear. These collections are complemented by LAGERFELD — a line of casual but refined urban menswear — and premium fragrances, which were added to the portfolio in 2014. In 2015 the company launched its online global women’s flagship store on Karl.com, and the brand portfolio will further expand in spring 2016 with the launch of a childrenswear collection.”

The Story of Karl Lagerfeld:

Karl Lagerfeld Quotes:

“No one wants to see curvy women.”

“I’m not a marketing person. I don’t ask myself questions. I go by instinct.”

“I always loved advertising. If I hadn’t been in fashion, I’d have been in advertising.”

“I don’t care if people I admire criticize me because their opinion is valuable to me.”

“Work is making a living out of being bored.”

“In a meat-eating world, wearing leather for shoes and clothes and even handbags, the discussion of fur is childish.”
