Liu Wen was born January 27, 1988 in Youngzhou, Hunan, China. She began modeling in 2005 when she entered the New Silk Road World Model Contest, which she did not win, but which got her started in modeling. She was soon featured in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

In 2007, she did an editorial for Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor and Rolf, which launched her as a high profile model.
