My winter fashion sense in a nutshell

Oh mother nature, you really do play with my emotions! I absolutely love the cooler temps. When the leaves start to fall and there’s a wonderful breeze in the air. Everything is crisp. Fresh. Cozy. Autumn, you tease, your fleeting love is disheartening. Why must you send winter so soon?

I feel like winter hit pretty hard this season. I live in Jersey, so I can’t really complain about it, but I’m going to anyway. When it is below zero for like five days in a row, you’re not going to get much else! 😅 Mother nature has been moodier than me lately. It was a wet and warm 57 degrees one day that swan dove to a bone chilling 15 by the next.

So how does one dress when experiencing such harsh temp swings? It’s mostly been hovering around a comfortable 20 or below. LOL so besides the obvious layering of sweaters/coats, I’ve put together a few looks that I’ve enjoyed this winter season.

Please note: many of the items were purchased a long time ago, so they won’t be on the store site, I will try to link a similar item, if possible!

Wanna know a secret about these pants? They’re from Mandee, and I’m not ashamed to say I’ve had them for at LEAST a decade. I went through a period of not wearing them for the longest time (actually thought I was going to end up getting rid of them), but now since the whole “boyfriend” style is alive and well, I like to think that these fit in that category. Thus, I will keep them for a while longer!

The sweater is from Urban Outfitters. The mustard color is growing on me. I always struggle with colors. I like to stick with neutrals most of the time, but a pop of color once in a while ain’t so bad, right?

Gotta love these tights from American Apparel. Guys, when do I NOT wear American Apparel? LOL These are just the right amount of different from your average black fishnets.

Ask me what clothing item I could live in for the entire winter season and the answer will be: oversized sweaters, all day, EVERYDAY. I can’t get enough of them.

This sweater in a lovely burnt sienna is from Urban Outfitters, yet again! Slightly tucked into my boyfriend-style, light wash Levi’s. It was particularly frigid this day, but I simply had to get the shot, so I was glad I had this huge blanket/scarf from Francesca’s that was a christmas gift! This scarf has been a winter staple! It really keeps me so warm! Everyone should have one in their closet. It’s a game changer!

The colors featured here are some of my favorites! Especially this cool mauve sweater from Express which was another lovely Christmas gift! It is light-weight and slouchy — offering just the right amount of warmth! and HELLO! Check out that lace up detail in the back! Who said dressing warm has to be frumpy? The sweater is slightly cropped and tucked perfectly into these high-waisted jeans from Gypsy Warrior (no longer in business).

The deeper purple in the scarf from Marshall’s is a lovely contrast to the sweater! The long coat from Forever 21 is another winter staple of mine! It just goes with everything! I’ve thrown it on over sweats and instantly felt better about my look, HAH! I’m a sucker for American Apparel’s (in general) long socks and these tall boots by Sam Edelman. A simple look to achieve, and perfect for the chilly season!

So basically, I’m closing out winter (well mentally anyway) with lots of oversized or slouchy sweaters in fun colors! Winter can be a drag, at times, but your outfit doesn’t have to be!

I’m a simple Jersey Girl. I enjoy mom and pop shops, especially if I can get a good cup of a coffee. This is where I tell my story. ❤
