“Father Brown” actress, Ruby-May Martinwood, stars in Ian Dray’s “RideBy”

RideBy, directed by Ian Dray from a screenplay co-written with Matthew J. Gunn and Naveen Medaram, is expected to hit cinema screens in late 2023. The film, a gritty British drama, revolves around girl gang warfare which leads to an innocent 5-year-old getting caught in the crossfire.

The film, with Prajay J Kamat serving as executive producer, stars Ruby-May Martinwood, Christopher Villiers, Chris Wilson, Neerja Naik, and Poppy Roe.

Martinwood, playing Pheobes in Dray’s RideBy, brings to the film a fully-rounded characterisation. The actress, familiar to Father Brown fans, plays Miss Brenda Palmer in the BBC daytime period drama. Martinwood, making a guest appearance during the ninth series, is now a Father Brown series regular. Pheobes and Miss Palmer, as characters, are like chalk and cheese. They are nothing alike.

Noting the cast list for RideBy, something Father Brown fans will immediately pick up on, Martinwood is not the only talent to appear in both the period drama and Dray’s film. Villiers, playing Justin De Vey in Ian Barber’s The Blue Cross, appeared in first series finale. Wilson, most notably as the Mayor of Kembleford, has made several Father Brown appearances. It has typically been a background character
