Screen Capture: Kate O’Flynn as Katherine Corven in “Father Brown”

The Gary Williams-directed sixth series Father Brown episode The Jackdaw’s Revenge sees the return of Katherine Corven in a spectacularly dramatic fashion. Mrs Corven, convicted of murdering her husband, had previously seen seen in Williams’ 2017 episode The Eagle and The Daw.

The teaser sequence, with Mrs Corven approaching the gallows, initially looks very grim for the character. Father Brown, appearing to regret his actions, is seen waiting by the telephone as Lady Penelope “Bunty” Windermere and Bridgette McCarthy bring to him something to eat.

The Catholic priest, not one that believes in the death penalty, wonders what might have been if he hadn’t become involved in the case. Father Brown, receiving a telephone call at St Mary’s Presbytery, is informed Mrs Corven has been released.
