When Pat Lochlin (Ian Puleston-Davies) is accused of murdering Roger Barford (Andrew Whipp), Maeve Lochlin (Bronte Terrell) and Sid Carter (Alex Price) travel to Kembleford and seek out Father Brown’s (Mark Williams) assistance in clearing Pat’s name.

The episode opens with a typical British pub scene set at the Miller’s Thumb. The Miller’s Thumb is a pub located on a nearby canal. Polly Beavington (Gabrielle Creevy), the barmaid, is serving when Roger Barford happens to drop in to speak with the pub landlord. Roger not escaping Pat Lochlin’s attention, he makes a few choice remarks that reverberates around the establishment’s patrons. Roger doesn’t hang around to banter words with Pat. When Polly essentially tells Pat that actions speak louder than words, he follows Roger from the pub.

Maeve Lochlin wakes Sid Carter from his slumber and tells him that people are saying her father killed a man. Adorably cute as ever, it’s been some time since we last saw Sid.
