Screen Capture: Amanda Lawrence as Barbara Farrell in “Father Brown”

The latest Father Brown episode, The Fall of the House of St Gardner, was televised in the British Isles on BBC One Thursday, 16 January 2020.

The Jennie Paddon directed episode opens with a scene set in a London nightclub. We see Sir Ralph Verde (Nick Waring), Lady Vivien St Gardner-Verde (Rosalie Craig), and Camille Hogan (Ingvild Lakou) speaking with a woman about her writing an article about the coming fashion show.

When Harvey St Gardner (Ben Lamb) enters the scene with Lady Penelope “Bunty” Windermere (Emer Kenny), even though the woman turns away, she is soon revealed as journalist Barbara Farrell (Amanda Lawrence). Ms Farrell had previously written articles which had impacted Bunty’s reputation. After a verbal confrontation, Mr St Gardner has Ms Farrell forcefully escorted from the nightclub.

As Ms Farrell is removed from the building, we hear Bunty telling Lady Vivien to not allow the journalist anywhere near her fashion show. With this brief conversation not going unnoticed by Ms Farrell, she promises to exact her revenge on the House of St Gardner.
