The obvious episode to revisit, after ‘The Eagle and the Daw’, is ‘The Jackdaw’s Revenge’. Both episodes, directed by Gary Williams, were penned by accomplished teleplay writer Kit Lambert. ‘The Jackdaw’s Revenge’, a sequel to the fifth series episode, ‘The Eagle and the Daw’, sees Kate O’Flynn return to Father Brown as Katherine Corven.

Mrs. Corven, remaining one of the catholic priest’s greatest foes, seeks revenge on Father Brown for apparently providing the pivotal testimony that convicted her for her husband’s murder. Previously, in ‘The Eagle and the Daw’, Mrs. Corven attempted to frame Father Brown for murder. Mrs. Corven, a master-manipulator, has her sights set firmly on her target. She will allow nothing to get in her way.

It feels like O’Flynn hadn’t been away from her character. Many acting talents, O’Flynn included, have this ability to step back into their character’s shoes at a moments notice. O’Flynn does a marvellous job with her characterisation. Everyone close to Mrs. Corven seems a tad gullible.
