‘The Book of Shadows’ is a seriously bonkers instalment. Not everyone will find it enjoyable but then, obviously, not all television viewers have the same taste in entertainment. Some people might consider it a lot of fun. ‘The Book of Shadows’, in one small way, is reminiscent of the Father Brown episode ‘The Standing Stones’.

‘The Standing Stones’, for people not familiar with the Father Brown episode, saw the story revolving around the occult. It was really only a matter of time before the Sister Boniface Mysteries addressed the occult.

Tom Thomas escorts Dottie Thimble to the area in the woods where the sacrifice took place. Miss Thimble screams at the sight of a burnt corpse.

Detective Sam Gillespie suggests the death wasn’t an accident. Sister Boniface identifies the victim as a female between 30 and 50. Examining the burnt corpse, she points out a knife wound on the victim’s neck. Picking up the burnt athame, Gillespie says it could be the murder weapon. Felix Livingstone questions if Tom’s story was true…
