Fathm Founder Fergus Bell joins ONA Board
Fergus will join ONA’s Board of Directors for a two year term
Fergus Bell has been appointed to the Online News Association’s Board of Directors for a two year term. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Fergus has been involved with the ONA for almost half of his 15 years in journalism. He first presented at ONA’s 2012 conference in San Francisco and has increased participation at every conference since. He was on the programme team for ONA17 (Washington DC) and London 2016. He has also been both a screener and a judge for the Online Journalism Awards and a co-organiser of ONA UK. As a member of ONA’s ethics committee he co-founded ONA’s Social Newsgathering Ethics Code.
Fergus hopes to use his time on the board to continue ONA’s important work on press freedom and expand the organisation’s strong offering of programmes to international members. He would also like to focus on supporting the needs of LGBTQ+ journalists and explore the creation of an allies network for newsrooms.
