COVID is punishing unfocused and misaligned cultures. Yours doesn’t need to be one of them. Ask yourself.

Are your people focused on the key strategic imperatives of your business? Are they aligned as a team? The answers will help determine how successful you will be. But this alone isn’t enough.

Equally important is your culture. Is it healthy? Is it aligned with your strategic imperatives? Does it empower your people? Does it bind the organization together, making it stronger and more resilient?

I have just watched a once smart and growing business lose key people because it did not focus on culture or support them effectively. They got away with it, pre-COVID, but not anymore. At the same time, I am watching another business, only a year old, thrive because it is focused on culture, values, and alignment with a compelling value proposition and the key strategic imperatives. Their focus and teamwork are really impressive and reflected in outstanding results.

If you asked every individual in your organization what the key strategic imperatives are, would you get the same answers? If you could measure the health of your culture (you can), how strong would it be?

There has probably never been a more important time to ask these questions.
