John Lennon once said “If I’d lived in Roman times, I’d have lived in Rome. Where else?”

Tech, if you will, is today’s Rome. It is the nucleus of our world, it is where our lives and our world are improved.

Yet, the digital tech community is fully decentralized. There is no one true Rome, no one home for tech conversation on the internet.

Instead, those of us who would like to live in Rome must divide our time and attention across a myriad of sites, including Reddit, Product Hunt, Hacker News, Techcrunch, Mashable, Re/Code, Devpost, Medium, and endless newsletters, podcasts, Twitter accounts, and blogs.

What if instead there was one constant stream of 24-hour live coverage of everything tech — like ESPN is for Sports or CNN is for News or Bloomberg is for Business?

Today we’re announcing the launch of something that achieves exactly this…

…the Adhoc.TV app, available next month for iOS, Android, and select SmartTV and VR devices.

On Adhoc, we’ve programmed a continuous series of video and audio to fill your day with the latest updates from the tech world from UX to AI to IoT. Get the latest breaking news and commentary from the experts that are closer than anyone to the next breakthroughs. You can also subscribe to mobile alerts on the topics you’re obsessed with so that you can be the first to receive breaking news.

To achieve this endless stream of tech-related content, we knew we had to partner with the leading outlets and minds in tech. For this reason, you’ll be able to listen to new and archived episodes of the Tim Ferriss podcast.

Tech News Today will immediately begin to syndicate their daily video cast to Adhoc, and Y Combinator and Product Hunt will both host new daily shows updating you on the latest trends in startups, apps, and entrepreneurship.

We’ve also partnered with TechCrunch to roll out multiple original series including new gadget roundtables and live coverage of events like CES, SXSW, and Comic-Con.

Lastly, we’ll also be rolling out multiple new original programs centering around design, development, and innovation, as well as syndicating breakout podcasts like IDEO, a16z, Dorm Room Tycoon, and The Pitch.

However, it was important to us that Adhoc was not just a network, but a community. For this reason, as soon as you download the app you’ll see that we’ve divided content into the following four tabs.

(1) Video — On the video tab you can tune in to our live coverage or browse the video archives. You can also bookmark both live and archived videos and return to them later.

(2) Audio — These are audio-only streams featuring podcast content, audio-only versions of our video programming, and original Adhoc-produced audio interviews. Similar to the video feed, bookmark things for later and heart episodes you like to receive more similar content.

(3) Discover — Discover verified profiles from our pre-launch partners and follow them for updates and commentary. You can also follow topics and tags that you’re interested in. We’re also accepting submissions for companies, brands, and individuals to request verified profiles in order to create original content for Adhoc and will be hand-picking these over the next few months.

(4) Forum — Discover links to articles, videos, products, and updates that users like you are posting to Adhoc. Upvote links to support content and to see more content along those lines in your feed. Submit your own links to tech finds that you find interesting and see them ascend to the top of the Forum.

You can find like-minded people in the comments on content in any of these four tabs. Follow individuals and join the conversation so that others discover you and can follow your activity within Adhoc.

Our goal is to create one centralized community of tech fanatics, and so we need people like you to join and participate.

We’ve also made the crucial decision to go against the grain and monetize Adhoc on day one so that Adhoc can continue to bring you the best content in tech 24/7 at no cost to you. Thanks to our launch partner, Oculus VR, we’ve made this a reality. Furthermore, Adhoc users can enter their unique ID on the Oculus site to receive a $100 discount on the recently announced pre-order. We’re thrilled to be able to bring this value to users right upon launch, and we promise to our users that Adhoc will always partner with advertisers as exciting and as mutually beneficial as Oculus.

So, join us next month on Adhoc, the first ever digital-only media network that is all about tech.

N.B. — This startup is 100% fictional, but we 100% believe that it should exist. If you agree and want to do something about it, reach out to us on Twitter and maybe we can join forces to try to make this fiction a reality.
